Turn 91 • Day 3Turn 27 of 32

The evening peak-hour crowd on the T9 Northern Line was mercifully thinned by the time Ryan boarded at Wynyard, the rhythmic sway of the carriage offering a soporific counterpoint to the relentless hum of anxiety in his chest. Sinking into a worn blue-upholstered seat near the sliding doors, he shifted his heavy canvas messenger bag onto his lap and let out a long, quiet sigh, watching the dark, rain-streaked window reflect the exhausted lines of his own face. As he adjusted his grip, his knuckles brushed against something hard and unyielding nestled in the seat cushion right beside him—a small, unmarked matte-black flash drive sitting entirely out of place on the grey fabric.

A cold knot tightened instantly in his stomach. The drive bore no serial numbers, no corporate asset tags, and no brand logos, its blank plastic casing catching the harsh fluorescent flicker of the train interior. Remembering the frantic warnings, the forged signatures, and the fabricated audit trails weighing down his bag, Ryan hesitated for only a second before slipping the cold object into his palm. Driven by a grim, compulsive curiosity, he unzipped his bag, pulled out his company laptop, and inserted the drive into the side port, ignoring the rhythmic clatter of the tracks beneath them.

A single video file sat unspooled on the directory, labeled with a simple string of numbers. With a trembling finger on the trackpad, Ryan double-clicked the icon. The media player window popped open to reveal a static, high-definition security angle of his very own fourth-floor marketing pod at Corravale Beverages, filmed from an impossible vantage point near the ceiling tiles. The camera looked down directly onto his desk, where his coffee mug sat beside the keyboard—and the timestamp in the corner read 18:45, a mere twenty minutes ago, showing a blurry, anonymous figure standing over his workspace in the empty office, methodically slipping a fresh yellow memo note onto his keyboard.

No suggestion won this turn. The story continued on its own.
