Turn 208 • Day 7Turn 16 of 32

The frosted glass door swung open a moment later, and a burly courier in a high-visibility vest hauled a dense, awkwardly shaped parcel into the lobby, dropping it unceremoniously near the elevators with a dull thud that rattled the floor tiles. The driver didn't bother waiting for a signature, muttering a curt excuse about his tight delivery schedule before ducking back out into the Sunday afternoon heat. Left with the stray box, Ryan peered down at the shipping label: unit 702, addressed to a notoriously cantankerous resident who had apparently refused to answer his buzzer all morning.

With a slow, heavy sigh that carried the accumulated fatigue of the entire week, Ryan hoisted the bulky parcel, its dead weight pressing uncomfortably against his forearms. The property manager gave a grateful, albeit distracted, nod from the mailboxes, clearly relieved to have the lobby floor partially cleared of yet another obstruction. Resigned to shouldering one more piece of administrative friction that didn't belong to him, Ryan turned toward the stairwell, silently resolving to lug the stray delivery up to the seventh floor just to put an end to the morning's relentless disruptions.

No suggestion won this turn. The story continued on its own.
