Turn 192 • Day 6Turn 32 of 32

Before Ryan could fully parse the implications of the Japanese-translated Chiba schedules, his personal phone buzzed violently against the laminate desk. Snatching it up, he was immediately met by the breathless, high-pitched voice of a panicked catering vendor demanding to know what to do with three pallets of industrial-grade beverage syrup that had been mistakenly dispatched to an empty loading dock instead of the artisan canapés required for the morning's flagship rollout. Ryan rubbed his tired eyes, listening to the frantic supplier complain about melted ice and blocked freight elevators, managing the logistics crisis with the mechanical, hollow calm of a man who had long since surrendered to corporate absurdity.

Earning a fragile, grudging promise that the vendor would sort out the reroute, Ryan ended the call, slid the heavy Chiba run-sheets into his canvas messenger bag, and finally stepped away from the desk. He walked out of the building into the cool Sydney night, catching the late-running T9 Northern Line back toward Rhodes. The train rattled rhythmically across the rail corridor, carrying him past the dark waters of the Parramatta River as the digital clock on his phone ticked steadily toward ten o'clock.

Arriving at his sixth-floor unit just as the clock struck 22:00, Ryan stepped inside and lined his leather shoes up neatly by the door. The apartment was quiet, save for the faint, familiar rumble of a passing freight train outside. Moving instinctively through the dim light, he picked up the small plastic spray bottle from the counter, gently misted the drooping green fronds of Chief the spider plant on the windowsill, and finally clicked off the overhead light, letting the silence close over the end of a very long Saturday.

No suggestion won this turn. The story continued on its own.
