Turn 110 • Day 4Turn 14 of 32

Returning to his open-plan pod just as the office clock ticks past half-past twelve, Ryan settles back into his ergonomic mesh chair, holding a lukewarm takeaway coffee cup. The fourth-floor marketing pod is half-empty, most of his colleagues having drifted down to the ground-floor food court or out into the crisp Barangaroo air for a midday break. But as his eyes adjust to the dual-monitor glow, he freezes. Pinned directly over the center bezel of his primary screen is a fresh square of neon-yellow paper, fluttering slightly from the overhead air-conditioning vent.

It bears no signature, only a few lines of hurried, sharply angled handwriting that look uncomfortably like his own rapid school-day scrawl. Do not go into the two o'clock slide deck, the unsigned note warns, the ballpoint ink slightly smudged near the edge. They’ve locked the version history; if you open it to defend yourself, the audit trail automatically registers you as the author. Ryan stares at the neon square, the ordinary background hum of a colleague unwrapping a sandwich a few pods away sounding entirely surreal against the chilling weight of the warning.

With a tight, shallow breath, he reaches out, his fingers hesitating just millimeters from the paper. The digital clock in the system tray counts down mercilessly toward the afternoon executive session, leaving him with barely an hour and a half to decide whether to walk straight into a trap or attempt to dismantle a corporate forgery he never built.

No suggestion won this turn. The story continued on its own.
